Julia Embry

This is MJEs. Embry's third year at Maria Carrillo High School. She received her Master’s Degree at Sonoma State University and holds an undergraduate degree in Social Work from Salve Regina University in Rhode Island.

She has previously worked with elementary, middle and high school students throughout Sonoma County and on the east coast where she grew up. When she is not helping students she loves spending time with her family, enjoying the great outdoors, traveling and reading.

ELLISA BEAMISH

EBMrs. Beamish has been a school counselor for the past seven years working at Analy High School in Sebastopol and at a high school in Tucson, Arizona. 

This is her first year at Maria Carrillo and she is very excited to be joining the Counseling team!  She received her undergraduate degree from Mount Saint Mary’s University in Los Angeles and her graduate degree from the University of Arizona in Tucson.  Prior to becoming a school counselor, Mrs. Beamish was a television news producer for eight years.  In her free time, Mrs. Beamish enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, cheering on the UA Wildcats and Minnesota Vikings, hiking, reading, and exploring the Bay Area!

Kim Handel

KimThis is Ms. Handel's fourth year at Maria Carrillo, and she's excited to make the move to the College and Career Center. She will be keeping her senior caseload for the 2021-2022 school year. 

Ms. Handel received her BA in History from UC Irvine and her MA in Counseling from San Francisco State University. She worked as a school counselor in Oakland for four years before coming to MCHS. She's happy to be back in Santa Rosa, where she grew up, and is looking forward to supporting students with their college and career goals.

Amy Bartholow

AmyMs. Bartholow was a counselor for Santa Rosa City Schools, Elsie Allen High School and Healdsburg High School. This is her fourth year at Maria Carrillo High School. She is also an adjunct instructor at the Santa Rosa Junior College.

Ms. Bartholow's undergraduate degree is from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and she earned her graduate degree at University of San Francisco. Last year, she completed her College Counseling Certificate through University of San Diego.

Veronica Cordero

VeronicaThis is Ms.Cordero’s first year as a School Counselor at Maria Carrillo High School. She has been with the Santa Rosa City School District for several years at the middle school level. She has previously worked for Sonoma Country Day School and Sonoma State’s Extended Education in the EXCEL program. 

She graduated from Sonoma State with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and is currently finishing up her final year of graduate school at the University of San Francisco towards a Master’s Degree in School Counseling.

Ms. Cordero is very excited to be joining the counseling team as she is an MCHS alum. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and crafting at home.
